Greyhound Makes Holiday Travel Affordable

A Grayhound bus! If you think you can't afford to load up the kids and go cross-country to see grandma during the holidays, or if you want to take a friend on a surprise trip but don't have enough cash to make it happen, well... think again. This holiday season, Greyhound Lines is making visiting friends and family during one of the busiest times of the year not only convenient, but best of all, affordable.

To bring friends and families together during this special time of the year, Greyhound is extending its special travel fares and programs through the holiday season to more than 2,000 locations. For instance, with Greyhound's "Friends Ride Free" program, two people can travel for the price of one. Customers need to purchase tickets only three days in advance from now until Jan. 31, 1997.

There are even greater savings for those travelers who can plan ahead. Greyhound will take you anywhere you want to go for $59 one-way and $118 round-trip. The offer is good for customers who can purchase their tickets 21 days in advance. Also available is a $79 one-way and $158 round-trip offer for those who can purchase 14 days in advance. Greyhound has extended both programs through Jan. 31, 1997.

Of course, Greyhound wouldn't forget its tiniest travelers. Greyhound is offering a "Kids Ride Free" program from December 1-15. Children between the ages of 2-11 years can travel free anywhere Greyhound goes with an adult who buys a one-way, three-day advance purchase ticket (one child per adult fare). As always, children under the age of two ride free on Greyhound anytime, anywhere. In addition, children 2-11 travel on Greyhound year-round for half price.

According to Stuart Robinson, vice president of marketing for Greyhound, the company is committed to helping people visit friends and relatives during the holidays-a traditionally expensive time of year to travel.

"Travelers will find our $59 advance ticket fare is the most affordable fare Greyhound is offering this year," says Robinson. "In addition, we do not limit the amount of advance purchase tickets sold like airlines do, thanks to our capacity flexible system."

Greyhound's capacity flexible system of transportation allows the company to order additional buses to accommodate demand. For this reason, Greyhound can offer unlimited advance purchase tickets.

The advance purchase fares are good anywhere anytime except for travel on the following dates: Wednesday, Nov. 27, 1996, and Dec. 10 - 24, 1996.

So, if you're looking for an affordable and flexible way to get yourself or the family home for the holidays, "Go Greyhound" -- an American holiday tradition for more than 80 years.
