Make Your Escape From Stress

Are your stress levels getting too high? Is "relaxation" just an entry in your dictionary? Like millions of others, you're long overdue for a break from the stress and strain of your daily routine.

Why not escape to the great outdoors? According to a Roper survey, stress relief and relaxation are two of the five top reasons North Americans participate in outdoor recreation.

In fact, the survey's top motivators for seeking outdoor activities were:

(76%) to have fun

(71%) for relaxation

(70%) health and exercise

(68%) family togetherness

(66%) stress reduction

(64%) to experience nature and

(60%) to be with friends

Not surprisingly, camping was listed in the top activities of those surveyed. Camping is a fun way to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature, and the company of family and friends. If you need a little "spice" with your respite, try camping in an area where you can hike, mountain bike, go canoeing, rafting or fishing, or tour local attractions.

It's easy to get started, even if you've never camped before. Try renting a self-contained recreation vehicle (RV) for a weekend (even first-timers can easily drive one) or borrow a friend's tent -- today's versions are easily set up in a matter of minutes. Another simple solution is to camp in one of KOA's cozy Kamping Kabins. The cabins have lockable doors and wood frame beds with mattresses -- all you need to bring is bedding, cooking equipment and personal items.

Then settle in and enjoy your favorite mode of relaxation. Or explore the surrounding countryside or your favorite outdoor pursuits. You'll be surprised how much better you feel!
